An illustration brief set by D&AD on behalf of LittleWhiteLies magazine. The brief was to design the cover based on a selection of films given by Little White Lies. The film chosen by myself was the American neo noir crime thriller Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The plot surrounds the unnamed driver, who's character works as a mechanic, stuntman and getaway driver. The cover was created by lino cutting the typeface into foam board and pouring oil into the cutout, tipping it upwards to allow the oil to pour down and photographing the result. The Idea behind the cover was to represent the gradual unravelling of the characters personality from a clean cut, reserved individual to a violent unstable character without direction.
